Unfortunately, the Canvas calendar has no special function as of now. Our schedules are put in the TP (time planner) system, which is so far not integrated with Canvas.

My page for students, on the other hand, is integrated with TP. Here students will find their personal schedules for courses. Students should always be referred to My page if they have questions about their lessons.

Planned TP integration with Canvas

A TP integration with Canvas is planned. The work is led by UNIT (the Norwegian Directorate for ICT and Joint Services in Higher Education & Research). There is no exact date yet, it could be available during the autumn 2020. More information to be announced.

Once the integration is successfully integrated, all lessons will automatically be sent to the Canvas calendar (as with students’ My page). Both students and employees have requested this integration, and we are looking forward to receive it.

Guidelines for now

The students must still be referred to the My page for students. It might be tempting to put the TP schedule manually into the Canvas calendar, but it is very important that you do not do it:

If something is changed in TP – which is not unusual – your manual data in Canvas is not updated. Then students and teachers may have two schedules that are almost identical, without knowing which one is correct. This can be highly frustrating and should be avoided.
